As the first women to overwinter solo in the Norwegian Arctic for nine months, we are citizen scientists, Arctic advocates, explorers, and authors of Hearts in the Ice: The Adventures of the First Two Women to Overwinter Solo in Svalbard. We founded Hearts in the Ice to bridge the gap between climate science and the public, fostering global engagement, measurable action, and accountability for sustainable change through land- and ship-based climate summits.

Frederic Hauge founded Bellona in 1986 and remains the President of Norway’s largest environmental NGO, which has influenced environmental policy for nearly three decades through research, legal action, and activism. Recognized globally, he was named a Hero of the Environment by TIME in 2007, served as Vice Chairman of the EU’s CO2 sequestration platform, and played a key role in Norway’s electric vehicle revolution by importing the first EV in 1989.
